Workplace Benefits

Our collective agreements guarantee basic workplace benefits to our members on each of our campuses. These benefits vary slightly between universities – make sure to read each collective agreement with any employer to ensure that you are benefiting from our agreements.

CUPE 3912 has four different collective agreements with the following institutions:

  • Dalhousie University
  • Mount Saint Vincent University
  • Saint Mary’s University
  • Saint Mary’s University – TESL Centre

Space, equipment and facilities

Employers are obligated to provide the space, equipment and facilities available to fulfill your duties. Details vary between universities.

Services

Each university provides certain services to our members. These may include library services, email accounts or access to sports facilities.

Professional Development Fund

Each university provides a fund assigned toward the professional development of our members. Some CUPE 3912 members (part-time academics) may apply to access an individual annual maximum amount of funding in order to participate in professional development opportunities. Amounts available vary between universities.

Insurance

Dalhousie University provides Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance as well as Occupational Medical Accident Insurance to our members. Other universities do not provide any insurance to our members.

Leave

Each university provides several sick days and vacation pay to our members. Certain opportunities are also provided for academic pursuit. Details vary between universities.
