Course: ASNT 1105.1 (FALL 2021)
Course title: Introduction to Chinese Culture (CRN 13458)
Department: Program in Asian Studies
Schedule: 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm T Th (remote synchronous)
This course surveys aspects of Chinese culture in their historical and social contexts. Topics will be selected by the instructor and may include folklore, literature, language, and material culture. No previous study of China or the Chinese language is required.
We require that candidates have a PhD in a related field, and a demonstrated record of success at university-level teaching.
Duties and responsibilities of this course include course / lecture preparation and delivery, evaluation of student work, offering office hours, and responding to student enquiries via email and Brightspace (SMU’s online platform), and/or Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Remuneration is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between Saint Mary’s University and CUPE 3912

Applicants who currently hold a part-time teaching appointment at Saint Mary’s University should submit a cover letter addressing how they meet the specific qualifications outlined above, a CV, and recent teaching evaluations.
In accordance with CUPE Local 3912 Collective agreement (16.06), priority will be given to part-time faculty colleagues who are on the Program’s precedence list.
