The instructor is responsible for coordinating the Animal Physiology Part I and Marine Animal Physiology Part I courses (BIOL 3078 and MARI 3074, respectively) offered during the upcoming Fall 2021 term. They are also responsible for the delivery of the laboratory components of these courses, as well as assisting students on an individual basis; general administration of the classes (handling student issues, submitting grades, hiring/supervising TA’s, etc.); and invigilating tests and examinations. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities We are seeking a colleague with expertise and teaching experience in chemical oceanography. The position includes responsibility for teaching OCEA 3002, Introduction to Chemical Oceanography, in the Fall 2021 semester. This course provides students with basic understanding of the composition of seawater and the processes that leads to this composition and its variations in space and time. The understanding should be both qualitative and quantitative and cover key concepts and tools used to understand chemical distributions within the ocean.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position It is preferred for the candidate to hold a PhD in chemical oceanography or a related discipline (candidates that are all but defended will be considered). In addition, candidates must demonstrate their ability to instruct students through lectures, in-class problem solving, and classroom-, field- or lab-based activities.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are needed, as are strong organizational skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision is required.
